An EMR, or electronic medical record, is a computer-based record system held by a care facility that contains a snapshot of a patient’s medical history, but also assists care providers in their day-to-day duties, such as diagnosis, treatments, or patient scheduling.

An EHR, or electronic health record, is your entire health record—a repository for the medical information received from every care facilities you’ve attended to date.

Connect Care is an Albertan government EHR initiative to change the way care providers use and share information for the purposes of improving patient care. We found that, of the Canadian population, our elderly are the most forgotten generation in comparison to others. Yet ironically, they are the most vulnerable to illness and require the most attention. AccessEMR will focus on providing better care to our elders—the ones who need it the most.
